A Port Isaac Christmas Concert at Truro Cathedral

Truro Cathedral Christmas Concert by Elowen Media

On the evening of Wednesday December 10th this year, Truro Cathedral will be welcoming Port Isaac singing groups to share their community Christmas carols and traditions with one and all at this free service.

“Close your eyes and transport yourself to rugged North Cornwall: nestled along a craggy coastline, the historic fishing village is a cluster of weathered cottages with smoke curling from chimneys, set against a backdrop of rolling waves and frost-tipped fields. The salty air is ringing with seasonal singing, and the beautiful Port Isaac illuminations are reflected in the harbour.”

If you are starting the festive period in Port Isaac and visiting in early December to enjoy Padstow Christmas Fayre and the switching on of the Port Isaac Illuminations, then this atmospheric event on the following Wednesday is well worth attending.

With musical traditions kept alive by the musical director of the Port Isaac Chorale, Janet Townsend MBE, and visual content directed by local artist Caroline Cleave and curated with Port Isaac Heritage group, this concert will be an evening of shared song and tradition to remember.

Featuring more than 70 singers from four of the village’s community singing groups, come along and join in with festive classics like the Sans Day Carol and While Shepherds Watched, and soak up beloved local favourites such as Love Came Down at Christmas and Hark The Glad Sound. Children from Port Isaac Academy will also be taking part with a beautiful lantern parade.
